Welcome to our plant search tool. This database contains many of the thousands of plants that we carry. There are some notable exceptions. Hundreds of new perennials come out every year and Make It Green has been a leader in making them available to you. Eventually the recent introductions will make it to our plant search tool but every year there will be a lag between our in-store plant selection and this search tool. Unfortunately this search tool can't cover everything that we will carry this year. We also carry over 100 varieties of rare and unusual evergreens and over 100 varieties of hard-to-find shrubs many of which are not in the plant search. A wonderful erect, clumping variety that features tender and slow growing stemless cylindrical succulent leaves; green with pale green bands; long spike-like racemes of small, fragrant tubular flowers during the spring; easy to grow and low maintenance
Features & Attributes
Cylindrical Snake Plant features dainty spikes of fragrant white tubular flowers rising above the foliage in mid spring. Its attractive succulent spiny leaves remain green in colour with prominent light green stripes throughout the year.
This is an herbaceous evergreen houseplant with an upright spreading habit of growth. This plant should not require much pruning, except when necessary to keep it looking its best.
Planting & Growing
When grown indoors, Cylindrical Snake Plant can be expected to grow to be about 5 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 24 inches. It grows at a slow rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 10 years. This houseplant will do well in a location that gets either direct or indirect sunlight, although it will usually require a more brightly-lit environment than what artificial indoor lighting alone can provide. It prefers dry to average moisture levels with very well-drained soil, and may die if left in standing water for any length of time. This plant should be watered when the surface of the soil gets dry, and will need watering approximately once each week. Be aware that your particular watering schedule may vary depending on its location in the room, the pot size, plant size and other conditions; if in doubt, ask one of our experts in the store for advice. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in sandy soil. Contact the store for specific recommendations on pre-mixed potting soil for this plant. Be warned that parts of this plant are known to be toxic to humans and animals, so special care should be exercised if growing it around children and pets.
There are many factors that will affect the ultimate height, spread and overall performance of a plant when grown indoors; among them, the size of the pot it's growing in, the amount of light it receives, watering frequency, the pruning regimen and repotting schedule.
